Student and Staff Recognition
Dr. Rodrequez shared information regarding activities to acknowledge the Class of 2020 including a tribute video to seniors from the GHS staff, yard signs distributed recognizing every senior, a drone video of buses arranged in a 2020 formation, and a virtual Honor’s Night presentation. Staff members received “Hero” yard signage, retirees, and service year award winners were recognized during virtual meetings and the district’s Teacher, Support Employee, and Volunteer of the Year were surprised with a virtual announcement and a prize patrol.
Graduation
The current plan for graduation is to hold it at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence on June 29, 2020, for graduates only and live stream the event. This location was selected so that in the event the Jackson County Health Department guidelines are broadened by the end of June, limited guest tickets can be issued while still adhering to social distancing standards.
Bond Projects
The Board approved a contract to upgrade the gymnasium doors and hardware to retro-fit on doors in the 700 pod to enhance safety and security. The project will be completed over the summer.
Time and Attendance System
The Board approved a contract for the implementation of a time and attendance solution for hourly employees. The system will assist the district with compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act as well as providing enhanced tracking of compensatory time and comprehensive reporting options for employees, administrators, and central office staff. Implementation will occur over the next several months.
Transportation Purchases
The Board approved the purchase of 30 passenger bus with integrated seating and the lease/purchase of six newer buses to reduce the average age of the transportation fleet to 8 years, which mirrors the state average.
