Program Evaluations
Program evaluations for Instructional Effectiveness, Curriculum, Professional Development (PD) and Finance were presented to the Board. K-12 Math and ELA curriculum is aligned to Missouri Learning Standards, Rigorous Curriculum Design (RCD) is the model used to design or redesign comprehensive unites of study aligned with state standards. PD opportunities are more differentiated with online, hybrid and in-person programs. Placing an emphasis on district-wide development of true Professional Learning Communities and data driven instructional decision making is a targeted growth opportunity to increase proficiency in reading, math, science and social studies. The district concluded the 2020-21 school year with 26% operating reserves which exceeds the Board goal. The annual audit for the 2020-21 fiscal year showed a clean opinion with no material weaknesses or findings.
Construction Manager At-Risk
Board Policy FED allows school districts to hire a construction manager at risk (CMAR) for school projects which allows them to take control of the selection of their construction partner, ensure a completely transparent view of project finances, mitigate budget risk, and ensure flexibility within the budget to make informed decisions during design to improve the quality and performance of the finished product. Interested companies were interviewed by a selection committee. The Board Approved JE Dunn as CMAR for $19,000,000 in designated bond projects.
Calendar Adoption – SY 2022-23
The Board adopted the calendar for 2022-2023 school year. The calendar is substantially the same as the current year calendar which includes 169 student attendance days and builds in a required 36 hours for inclement weather days. The As Districts are required to start no sooner than 14 days prior to the first Monday in September, the first day of school will be Monday, August 22, 2022.
Purchase of Musical Instruments
The board approved the purchase of musical instruments to support the instrumental music program. The bonds approved by voters in 2021 included an allocation of $250,000 toward the purchase of new instruments.
February Board Meeting Date Changed
The date for the Regular Open Board of Education meeting was moved from the third Thursday to the second Thursday, February 10, 2022 to accommodate conflicts in schedules.
