End of Year iReady Assessments
The Curriculum & Instruction Department reviewed end-of-year math and English language arts iReady assessment data for kindergarten through eighth grade. These assessments are used to identify any needed adjustments to interventions for students not yet at grade level or enrichment for students who are already at or beyond grade level. The assessment analysis showed growth in specific domains such as phonics, vocabulary, numbers, measurement and algebraic thinking. Data also showed that the achievement gap between black and white students has declined steadily over the past 3 years.
Discipline Committee Update
The District Discipline Committee meets throughout the school year to review and revisit the Code of Conduct in order to ensure consistency in the delivery of discipline across grades K-12. Activities and recommendations by the District Discipline Committee were reviewed. Process changes and enhancements to the Code of Conduct will be made related to cell phone use during school hours or instructional time. Students and families will be made aware of the process and Code of Conduct changes prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year.
District Wellness Program
An assessment of the Wellness Program identified strengths as well as areas of improvement for the coming year. Strengths include improvements to workspace ergonomics, healthy food options, upgrades to staff break areas, and robust community partnerships. Goals include integrating the 5 key pillars of staff wellbeing (financial, physical, social, community, career), enhancing nutritional and physical activity education for students, fully integrating social and emotional learning throughout the district and continuing to seek input from stakeholders and community partners.
GHS Track Upgrades
The Board approved a change order for additional repairs to the track after removal of the old surface exposed deterioration in the base asphalt layer under the rubber track, as well as issues with curbing that separates the track from the football field. These issues will necessitate a change in the football schedule for home games in September.
