The entire meeting agenda can be viewed at: October 24, 2024 BOE Meeting
School Improvement Plans (SIP)
The Board heard SIP presentations from Grandview Middle School, Martin City K8 and CAIR. The SIP format includes root cause analyses and 30, 60, and 90-day reviews to determine if adjustments to the plans are needed throughout the year. Goals include increasing student achievement in literacy and math, and creating a culture of belonging in school and work environments.
Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) Update
The C&I Department presented data from fall iReady testing, which assesses how prepared students are to begin learning in the grade they are assigned for the year. The data showed a number of positive trends in the percentage of students starting the year ready for grade level instruction at the elementary level, such as decoding skills and phonic awareness, but also areas where improvement is still needed, particularly in secondary grades. The Action Plan to address these needs includes math and reading intervention and coaching support in secondary schools and integration of Savvas K-12 Learning Solutions.
Professional Learning Plan
The Board approved the 2024-25 Professional Learning Plan. PLP activities are designed to improve student performance by providing high quality adult learning opportunities. Action plans include summer professional development and learning opportunities, multi-year Savvas and Science of Reading professional learning curricula, and additional math instruction frameworks.
Online Registration & Enrollment (ORE)
A review of this year’s ORE was presented which highlighted changes that included implementation of the new student information system called FOCUS, adding an additional week of hands on help and extending hours into the evening once each week, and adding additional staff to assist prior to the start of school. Parent survey results are used to indicate where ORE works successfully as well as identifying improvement needs.
