Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) Review
The District’s CSIP identifies five Focus Areas for evaluation: Governance; Student Achievement; Highly Qualified Staff; Facilities, Support and Instructional Resources; and Parent/Community Involvement. Results from year 5 of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) were shared with the Board. The District met all established goals in the area of Governance, Highly Qualified Staff, and Facilities, Support and Instructional Resources; met one of three goals in the area of Student Achievement, showing improvement in the other two goals; and met two of three goals in the area of Parent and Community Involvement while showing improvement in the third goal.
Annual Performance Report (APR) Update
The Annual Performance Report (APR) provides an annual performance review which incorporates data using the 5th Cycle Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 5) scoring guide. The MSIP 5 scoring guide evaluates the district on five state standards for the purposes of determining district and site level accreditation. The Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) will make changes in how the APR is calculated over the next three years and has indicated that final APR scores will not be available until mid-December.
Community Input Surveys
The District will contract with Patron Insights this fall to administer family and community surveys. The data will be used to identify family/community involvement successes as well as needs. The District last collected this type of data in 2015 which was used to help guide the development of a communications plan.
Caring for Kids Partnership
Last spring the District began discussions with Caring for Kids as an option for replacing services provided by the Bright Futures program. Their mission is to mobilize community organizations – churches, businesses, and civic groups – to serve collaboratively around neighborhood schools, helping them achieve the goal of equipping students to reach their highest potential. Caring for Kids currently serves eight school districts in the metro area. Grandview C-4 will begin a partnership with them this school year.
Employee Exit Interviews
Throughout each year, when employees leave the district, they are asked to complete a voluntary Exit Interview Survey. The survey is used to gather data to validate exemplary practices and to improve instructional delivery, working conditions, and employee retention. The Board reviewed responses from 17 employees who left the district in 2017/18. The top three reasons for leaving the district were employment elsewhere, retirement and changing occupations.
