CREATE FUTURE: District leaders and community members celebrated the construction of a new gymnasium at Martin City K8 with a groundbreaking ceremony. The ceremony brought out dozens of people that included, including both the Kansas City and Grandview Mayors, Quinton Lucas and Leonard Jones. Guest speakers also included sixth-grade MCK8 student Zaire Kyles and MCK8 eighth-grader Olivia Middaugh. There was even a musical performance by the Martin City K8 Band. The ceremony was previewed on KSHB 41 and covered by the Martin City Telegraph.

Cover to Cover Summer Reading Program
Cover to Cover in the Grandview C-4 School District is a program designed to help prevent a summer decline in reading skills and promote a lifelong love of reading. The project in 2018 had an impact on approximately 1050 students at Butcher-Greene, Conn-West and High Grove. Each elementary student received 10 new books in May, while those in early childhood received five new books for the summer.

Meadowmere Teacher Wins KCTV5 and MNEA "Read to Achieve" Contest
Congratulations to our very own Meadowmere Elementary School Teacher Donna Wyatt. She received the "Read to Achieve" award Monday morning in front of her class. Ms. Wyatt was nominated by a parent. She was honored with a $1000 check and a visit from KCTV5 and Missouri NEA's President Charles Smith.
